    A living reef legacy

Step into the water and conservation is already happening.

Castaway Island, Fiji has partnered with nonprofit Counting Coral to establish a Sculptural Coral Gene Bank in the waters surrounding the island. Blending marine science, art and regenerative tourism, the underwater installation serves as a living seed bank for resilient corals that can be monitored, protected and propagated to support the long-term recovery of the surrounding reef.

Bringing native wildlife back to Castaway

Following years of habitat restoration, invasive species management and collaboration with conservation partners, 15 endangered Fijian crested iguanas were translocated to Qalito Island in 2025. It marked the species' return to the island after an absence of more than 40 years.

Their return is an important step in restoring the island's natural biodiversity and a reminder that meaningful conservation takes time, partnership and continued care.
