Celebrating 10 Years of OUTRIGGER Zone: Caring for Our Place

For 10 years, OUTRIGGER Zone has brought together guests, hosts, community partners and local organizations around a shared purpose: protecting the oceans and coastlines that make our beachfront destinations so special. Since launching in 2014, the program has grown from local conservation efforts into a global initiative spanning Hawaiʻi, Fiji, Thailand, the Maldives and Mauritius, all rooted in the belief that healthy oceans are essential to thriving communities and meaningful travel experiences.

This year marked an important milestone as we celebrated the 10th Annual OUTRIGGER Zone Day during World Ocean Month.

Over the past 10 years, the OUTRIGGER Zone program has helped advance coral reef conservation, marine debris reduction, ocean education and ecosystem restoration through partnerships with nonprofits, educators and community leaders. What began as a commitment to caring for the places we call home has evolved into a global movement that engages and educates hosts and guests in hands-on conservation experiences throughout the year. 

While every OUTRIGGER destination, from the Maldives to Kona, has its own unique ecosystem, the OUTRIGGER Zone commitment remains the same: to protect and restore the natural environments that sustain our communities.

2026 OUTRIGGER Zone Day: Community in Action

To celebrate the program's 10th anniversary, hundreds of hosts, guests and community members gathered at the Waikīkī Aquarium for OUTRIGGER Zone Day, a family-friendly event focused on environmental education, marine stewardship and collective action.

The event featured 21 environmental partners spanning from artists, government conservation agencies, and community-based nonprofit organizations. Partners brought art, educational exhibits and interactive experiences designed to inspire ocean stewardship across generations.
